To honor the genre of poetry, all members (poets and non-poets) are invited to participate.

No entry fee! Prize Awards!

Submission entry starts January 1, 2016.

Deadline is March 9, 2016

Poems will be judged on the following criteria:

• The poem contains unique and clear word choices.
  
• Line break choices and use of punctuation (or lack thereof) indicate thoughtful purpose.
  
• Creative use of poetic devices such as imagery, simile, metaphor, personification, etc.
• The poem is aesthetically pleasing and evokes an emotion or feeling from the reader.

Contest Submission Rules:

1. Only PSWG members in current 2015-2016 Program season status can participate.

2. Number of entry submissions allowed per member: ONE .

3. Online Submission Only! Your poem submission must be accompanied by an online contest entry form. Poems are submitted as an email attachment in MSWord (.doc or .docx). All other file formats will be disqualified.

4. Submit original poem of any form or style, rhymed or unrhymed, in meter or free verse. Any subject matter.

5. Length: Up to 30 lines maximum.

6. Font Style: Times New Roman.

7. Font Size: 12 pt.

8. Title of poem must be included at top of poem.

9. Author's Name MUST NOT appear on the poem.

Prize Awards:

First Prize: $75.00 & 1yr subscription to Poets & Writers Magazine. Poem will be read aloud to audience. Certificate awarded. In honor of National Poetry Month, the First Place poem will be read aloud to the audience by the poet at the April 2, 2016 PSWG Meeting.

Second Prize: $25.00 & 1yr subscription to Poets & Writers Magazine. Certificate awarded.
