Description:
The 2+ hour class is divided into three sections: Section 1 – What Is Poetry? This section is an examination of what makes a poem a poem. Many poetic forms are discussed: prose poem, sonnet, Haiku, odes and ballads are some of the ones discussed. Examples are given. A textbook will be available online for participants to download. Sections 2 and 3 consist of participants reading their poems followed by a discussion of how each of the participants reacted to the poem, whether they thought the poem was successful and what made it work…or not. The third part consists of the instructor critiquing the poem, giving hints of how it could be made better and where the writer might want to go with their poetry.
Each participant will receive a 52 page poetry workbook at no charge!
