  • Standard or Student members who register on or before the date of the preceding month’s Insider Workshop will receive an early registration discount of $25 (33% off the regular $75 fee). You must be logged in to select this option.
  • Standard and Student members are provided a la carte access to Insider Workshops at the Member rate of $75. You must be logged in to select this option.
  • Non-Members pay $150 for each Insider Workshop. Please note that if you choose to join the Guild before registering for the event you will pay a $75 Membership fee, and then the Member rate of $75 for the event—the same $150 total, but you’ll then gain all the benefits of membership in the Guild (including the Membership rate of $75 at any future Workshop).

Project Pitching & Story Structure with Catherine Ann Jones

Catherine Ann Jones, is an award-winning author and playwright as well as a sought-after screenwriter with these outstanding shows among her credits: The Christmas Wife, starring Jason Robards and Julie Harris (four Emmy nominations), the charming Christmas movie, Unlikely Angel, starring Dolly Parton, and the multi-Emmy nominated Touched by an Angel series, which ran for nine seasons on CBS. Her numerous books include Heal Your Self with Writing, The Way of Story, What Story Are You Living, Freud’s Oracle, and Buddha and the Dancing Girl. 

Description of talk:

Screenwriters and prose writers will love this interactive and fun way to learn the tricks of the successful pitch from an experienced and respected Hollywood insider. Gain invaluable feedback on pitches, useful for selling your book or screenplay, from award-winning author, screenwriter/producer Catherine Ann Jones.

Focus will be on story structure, rewriting your proposal and story, character development, point of view, & how to focus your pitch.

It’s all in the story, and how to focus the story. Film or book, fiction or non-fiction, requires an emotional response from reader and audience. Learn how to structure your story or proposal in order to successfully realize your project.

Saturday afternoon, December 3, 2022 (after this Insider Workshop) and all day Sunday, December 4, 2022 Catherine will be available for 1 hr. consults and/or psychic readings. She has been a psychic reader for 45 years, with clients both here and abroad.

You can make an appointment in-person on Saturday, or if you are unable to attend the Saturday meetings, you can make an appointment by emailing Catherine.

Unable to attend, no problem, all registrants will receive a video replay of this presentation. Please allow up to 48 hours after the event to receive your video replay.

To receive a full refund minus a $25 cancellation processing fee, attendees must cancel their registration 5 days before the event. No refunds will be given after that time. To cancel your registration, go to palmspringswritersguild.org and click on the blue icon at the top right of any page. Enter user name and password and click "LOG IN". On the next screen click "My event registrations". Select event and cancel registration. 

Meeting begins at 1:00 p.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m.
