Find the Music in Your Writing with Stuart D'Rozario

Many of the best musicians are also incredible storytellers. After all, the craft, like creative writing, is descended from oral storytelling, predating anything written. Each song is like a short story or fleeting flash piece into the life of a character or subject. But how can the music you listen to speak to your writing, and how can we use melody and rhythm to our advantage?

The Palm Springs Writers Guild is excited to start 2023 with a very special guest. Join us January 7 from 1pm-3pm for a unique and inspiring workshop with singer/ songwriter/ musician Stuart D’Rozario. Here are some thoughts on his work:

About Stewart:
Stuart is an accomplished musician who has released four albums to critical acclaim. His accolades include the Grand Prix at Cannes, an Emmy nomination, Gold Effies and five films in the permanent collection at the Museum Of Modern Art.

About the Workshop:
After a short, inspirational mini-concert of his favorite tunes, Stuart will talk about the relationship between words and music, rhythm and rhyme and how the words, notes and syntax he uses affect his audience. This will be followed by musical prompts and writing exercises. And some of you will even get to perform your newly minted work.

To Be Clear:
This is not a songwriting workshop. Rather, it is designed to help make your writing more lyrical and indelible.
