Guest Speaker: Kathy Weyer
The forum is led by Kathy Weyer, your Secretary/Treasurer and Membership Chair. She has been published in several literary magazines and has been rejected by more than one agent; she has learned what agents look for and what they reject out of hand. Her debut novel, Stitches, was published in 2015, rewritten, improved, and revamped for publication. Many lessons have been learned, which she will share at this workshop.
Please join us as we have a fun discussion and learn from each other how to impress a literary agent, editor, or publishing house with your opening.

The start of your book is incredibly important!
Most literary agents tell you not to begin with dreams, driving, or at a funeral. Do you agree?
Come join us as we have an immersive, interactive meeting. We’ll begin with book openings and go from there. We’ll have several examples of prize-winning book openings and then move on to your project. When you register for this general meeting you’ll be asked to send in the first three paragraphs of your project; they will be displayed on the screen anonymously for discussion. Be prepared for differing opinions! Of course, this depends on how many participants we have, so please register early so we can plan!
We are here to help each other; this is a great way to have some fun and get immersed in the process of writing from several different perspectives. A great motivation to get your mojo back and step up your opening paragraphs. Please register early!
