Write from Your Heart: An Introduction to Memoir Writing with Susan Shankin and Sara Volle
Susan Shankin is a successful publisher, creative director, and book designer. She guides authors through the publishing process, from concept to finished product, and ongoing marketing. Her services include idea development, project management, design, marketing, promotion, and distribution. Susan has been a publisher for more than a decade and worked in the industry three times as long. She is known for her exceptional creative ability, unrelenting commitment to excellence, and expertise in all aspects of publishing.
Sara Volle offers professional editing and writing coaching services. She specializes in memoir coaching and works closely with clients to achieve excellence at all stages of the writing process. Sara works in higher education and has co-taught college-level writing courses. She has a B.A. in English Literature and a Master’s degree in English with an emphasis in Rhetoric and Composition.
Description of talk:
We all have a story to tell. Explore the fundamentals of memoir writing and learn about strategies for launching your book project from idea to completion.
Topics include:
- Why write a memoir?
- Mapping turning points and themes from key events in your life
- Elements of a great scene
- You've finished your manuscript. Now what?
This workshop will incorporate several hands-on activities, time for sharing, and Q&A with the facilitators
