Chicken Soup for the Soul (500 million books sold worldwide) sparked massive interest in inspirational personal essays and storytelling. Diana Wentworth, our workshop presenter, was in at the very beginning of this publishing phenomenon. As the author of The Pleasure of Your Company, “Cookbook of the Year” as well as five other culinary and home entertaining booksshe became the first co-author with Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen with the publication of the third title in the series, Chicken Soup for the Soul Cookbook. Given only three months to complete the manuscript of 101 stories with recipes, she used all of her years of passion for journal-writing techniques to quickly become an expert in creating inspiring life stories that are full of emotion. “Our stories are our legacy for future generations.”

Diana has showcased the life-enhancing work of over 1500 hundred speakers at the Inside Edge (www.InsideEdge.org), a breakfast forum that has been meeting for over 34 years.  She will share wonderful assortment of writing tools, resources and storytelling techniques.

Workshop Schedule:
9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

About the workshop facilitator:
Diana von Welanetz Wentworth is a New York Times bestselling author of 10 award-winning books (including two of the Chicken Soup for the Soul titles). Her entrepreneurial careers include being a television celebrity chef and the Founder of Inside Edge Foundation for Education. www.InsideEdge.org

In 1985, at the height of the Cold War, Diana and her late husband Paul von Welanetz were culinary stars and television hosts who were invited to travel into the Soviet Union to be part of a documentary. They were so deeply touched by their fellow travelers, all leaders in human potential, that on their return, they left their culinary career and reinvented their business focus. Thus, began the Inside Edge, a Southern California weekly breakfast forum in three cities where forward-thinking leaders have gathered for 34 years to hear more than 1500 cutting-edge speakers on the topics of psychology, scientific breakthroughs, global issues, success strategies, spiritual awareness and the arts.

At some of those meetings Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen conferred on their concept for the first Chicken Soup for the Soul. Diana soon became their first co-author with the third book in the series, Chicken Soup for the Soul Cookbook (almost a million copies sold). She later re-partnered to write Chicken Soup to Inspire the Body and Soul with Canfield, Hansen and Dan Millman.

The film rights to Diana’s romantic memoir, Send Me Someone: A True Story of Love Here and Hereafter (Renaissance Books and St. Martins Press 2001), the poignant story of how her late husband promised to send her a new love, was purchased by the Lifetime Network for development into a movie of the week.

Diana has been speaking internationally for over 40 years and often speaks at writer’s conferences on The Art and Magic of Memoir and Writing and Publishing Your Book in 120 Days.

Diana loves helping clients discover the joy in writing, editing and publishing their personal stories. She will present a storytelling/journal-writing workshop titled Storytelling: The Art and The Magic on May 3rd.
